Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoon ‏Moong Dal
  • 2 tablespoon ‏Urad Dal
  • 2 tablespoon ‏Channa Dal
  • 2 tablespoon ‏Masoor Dal
  • 2 tablespoon ‏Tur Dal
  • 1 teaspoon ‏Cumin Seed
  • 1 teaspoon ‏Coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon ‏Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon ‏Garam masala
  • 1 tablespoon ‏Ghee
  • 1 No ‏Onion (small)
  • 1 No ‏Tomato (medium)
  • 50 grams ‏Yoghurt
  • 1 tablespoon ‏Oil

This delicacy is prepared by mixing 5 lentils and aromatic spices.



Directions

Preparation

  1. Mix all five Dal (lentils) and soak for 15 mins.
  2. Peel and chop Onion
  3. Chop Coriander
  4. Finely chop tomato
  5. Whisk yoghurt in bowl.

Method

  1. Heat oil in pressure cooker and add Cumin seed. Let it crackle.
  2. Add lentils, coriander powder, red chilli, turmeric and salt.
  3. Cook for 10 mins or till the lentils are soft. Do not mesh the lentils.
  4. Sprinkle garam masala and cumin powder.

Tempering

  1. Heat ghee in kadhai, add onions and stir for 1 mins.
  2. Add chopped tomato and yoghurt.
  3. Cover and let it cook for 5 mins on slow flame. Open the lid and fry till ghee leaves the side.
  4. Transfer into cooked lentils.
  5. Garnish with coriander and serve hot with rice or chapati.
