Daal Khichdi

Ingredients
- 1 cup Tur dal
- 1 cup Rice
- 1 tbsp Chopped garlic
- 1 tsp Chopped ginger
- 2 nos Bay leaf
- 1 no Onion
- 2 tsp Red chili powder
- 2 tsp Turmeric
- 2 nos Tomatoes
- 2 nos Green chili
- 1/2 cup Curry leaves
- 1/2 cup Coriander
- 2 tsp Cumin seeds
- 1 tbsp Ghee
- As per taste Salt
Directions
Preparation
- Finely chop tomatoes.
- Finely chop coriander.
- Cut onion in to 4 parts.
- Slit green chillies.
- Wash dal and rice seperately and keep aside.
Method
- In a pressure cooker add dal, red chili, green chili, onion, garlic 1/2 tsp, turmeric, water and salt.
- Pressure cook dal for 3 whistles or till it is completely cooked.
- Let the steam escape, open the lid add rice and water. Mix well, pressure cook for 2 whistles or till it is completely cooked.
- For Tempering
- In a pan add ghee and heat on low flame. Add bay leaf and cumin seeds, let it crackle. Add ginger and garlic, saute for few mins.
- Add curry leaves, saute for few seconds. Add tomatoes, cover the pan and cook till tomatoes becomes soft.
- Add the tempering and coriander leaves in khichdi. Mix well and serve hot.
