Panch Ratan Dal

This delicacy is prepared by mixing 5 lentils and aromatic spices.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoon Moong Dal
- 2 tablespoon Urad Dal
- 2 tablespoon Channa Dal
- 2 tablespoon Masoor Dal
- 2 tablespoon Tur Dal
- 1 teaspoon Cumin Seed
- 1 teaspoon Coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon Garam masala
- 1 tablespoon Ghee
- 1 No Onion (small)
- 1 No Tomato (medium)
- 50 grams Yoghurt
- 1 tablespoon Oil
Directions
Preparation
- Mix all five Dal (lentils) and soak for 15 mins.
- Peel and chop Onion
- Chop Coriander
- Finely chop tomato
- Whisk yoghurt in bowl.
Method
- Heat oil in pressure cooker and add Cumin seed. Let it crackle.
- Add lentils, coriander powder, red chilli, turmeric and salt.
- Cook for 10 mins or till the lentils are soft. Do not mesh the lentils.
- Sprinkle garam masala and cumin powder.
Tempering
- Heat ghee in kadhai, add onions and stir for 1 mins.
- Add chopped tomato and yoghurt.
- Cover and let it cook for 5 mins on slow flame. Open the lid and fry till ghee leaves the side.
- Transfer into cooked lentils.
- Garnish with coriander and serve hot with rice or chapati.
